SYNRGY
app design, ux/ui
overview
SYNRGY is a music app designed to enhance music’s power to release emotions. It’s the first music streaming app that truly highlights the individual user.
Through SYNRGY you can find your community, track your mood, and discover new sounds. By pulling insights from user data, the app creates a custom listening experience for every user.

Record Studio
SYNRGY develops a one-of-a-kind auditory journey by using smart algorithms and emotional intelligence. Users log their emotions in the "Record Studio," and are presented with a custom playlist based on their music taste and mood.
SYNRGY Branding
SYNRGY's branding appeals to Gen Z through vibrant visuals and gamified elements. The bright colors, such as pink and yellow, are associated with enthusiasm and motivation, encouraging users to continue engaging with the app.
Accessibility
SYNRGY's color palette is also color blind safe to remain as inclusive as possible on a digital platform. The contrast of the colors must be visible, for different shades are associated with specific emotions.
Recording Emotions
SYNRGY's interface features 18 unique emotion icons spanning three categories: good, meh, and bad. The icon features are minimal to remain friendly and relatable to users of all backgrounds.
Design Process
Playlists
This sample playlist has sad, nostalgic, and chilling music, catering to a user's distressed emotions.
SYNRGY pulls user listening data in addition to their emotions to curate the perfect playlist. Each playlist blends a user's favorite songs with new ones for them to discover.
Music Archive
The Record Studio holds all custom soundtracks and moods in the Archive. Users can view records from a monthly, weekly, or daily perspective to see their top emotions, artists, and songs.
Research
Research was the backbone of this project. I surveyed 53 college students to learn about their music streaming likes and dislikes. I discovered that most students are interested in finding new music, listening to music daily, and seeing their music stats.
Reflection
This is one of my favorite projects. It's a passion project that I hope to continue working on. I want to flesh out the Profile, Tracks, and Archive pages. I designed these pages at the end of my timeline and want them to be as impactful as the Record Studio pages. I now know I don't have to create every page of an app (unless it's getting developed, of course). This will save me valuable time in the future.
