The Cutting Edge is a year-long exhibition within the University of Florida Smathers Library. The exhibition commemorates the ingenuity of the engineering behind the Panama Canal.

I was asked to design a banner, brochure, and logo that reflected these impressive feats while appreciating the technology that made its development possible.

BROCHURE TAKEAWAY

I took inspiration from the original Panama Canal blueprints, specifically those regarding the ships and Miter Gates. The color palette and bold typefaces are a nod to these blueprints and are accessible to a diverse, museum-going audience.

Its dynamic design utilizes sharp diagonals, mirroring the intersecting locks and intricate engineering that reshaped global trade.

The brochure interior highlights the monumental efforts that transformed the course of world commerce.

The images reveal the technological feats of the canal while relating to its rich history.

I used a French fold design so the brochure could have multiple uses. The interior highlights the history and accomplishments of the canal, while the exterior has a poster promoting the exhibition.
